1. Summary
"Chem 91 SKVA" is the Chem 91 (Chemdog) clone as kept by Skunk VA (Jason; later Lucky Dog Seed Co. and Lucky Dog Cannabis, Bozeman, Montana). It is widely regarded as the Chem 91 cut with the best provenance.123 Skunk VA's own account (Pot Cast, 2016) is the primary source and is verified as his statement:
- He received "the chem dog" in Sonoma County in summer 1995, "a few days before Jerry Garcia died", from a close friend of Chemdog.
- He found Chemdog on Overgrow in December 2005.
- In February 2006 he flew Chem Dog cuttings to New York and returned them to Chemdog. In exchange he received Chem D and a plant later identified as Mass Super Skunk; Chemdog's "number six somehow got turned into the mass super skunk".14
High Times (2016) credits Skunk VA with keeping the Chem strains alive through Chemdog's 2011 legal trouble.5 High Times (2012) printed Cali Connection's Dead Head OG lineage as "Chem Dog 91 (a.k.a. the Skunk VA cut) Γ SFV OGK F4". So the SKVA cut was the Chem 91 used by at least one major seed company.6 Forum disputes about "SKVA vs original 91" exist (THCFarmer). A forum post read on a podcast holds that "skunk VA cut is the original Chem 91, it's got the best provenance". Tucson Weekly gives a different trade story (Chem's Sister for Chem 91, early 2000s), which is disputed.378
