1. Summary

Banana OG is credited to OrgnKid, the 2000s forum breeder who bought the OG Kush clone and sold OG S1s and cuts (see og-kush, ghost-og).12 Three accounts of its parentage compete, and all are secondhand (disputed):

  • OG Γ— "Sagarmatha", 60/40 (ICMag "DEFINITIVE OG Kush History", 2019, as summarised in the OG Kush dossier).1
  • A Banana male Γ— an OG Kush female. OrgnKid is said to have won a bag of seeds in a SeedBay auction whose plants smelled strongly of banana (Weedmaps via Cannigma).2
  • The "Banana" parent was an old-school Skunk #1 Γ— Haze with an intense banana smell (a forum comment attributed to OrgnKid, via Cannigma).2

On the Breeders Syndicate podcast, a breeder working the line notes that Banana OG "out-crosses a lot of amazing banana type stuff and OG stuff" but also throws "a lot of Skunk #1 type stuff". That fits a Skunk-family banana parent.3

Banana OG is the documented parent of Strawberry Banana (Banana OG Γ— TH Seeds Bubblegum, Crockett Family Farms), a breeder statement printed in High Times in 2015 and 2016.45 It also placed in Cups: 3rd Hybrid at the 2013 SoCal Medical Cup (Cool Calm Collective), and top indica at the 2014 NorCal Cup at 16.42% THC.67
