1. Summary
Kosher Kush is a Los Angeles OG-type clone that DNA Genetics (Don and Aaron) acquired from a crew of Jewish friends who called it "Jew Gold". DNA renamed it and released it in seed through its Reserva Privada line around 2010–2011.12 Don's own account in High Times (2011) is verified as his statement: "a group of Jewish kids in LA had this great herb that they were calling Jew Gold … we referred to it as the JG. In time, we acquired a cut from the JG crew — at a price, of course".1
Its genetics are disputed or unknown, and DNA has described them three different ways:
- "OG Kush × Super Secret Sativa" (HT Dec 2011 seed review).2
- "Kosher Kush × OG Kush" (HT Apr 2013).3
- "OG Kush is the primary parent … the rest of the Kosher Kush parentage is unknown"; seeds are Kosher Kush × Kosher Kush (DNA site, 2026).4
The "blessed by a rabbi" tag is DNA's marketing lore. DNA stresses that Don and Aaron are "nonreligious on every level".12 Its Cup record is verified in High Times:
- 1st Seed-Company Indica at the Amsterdam Cup in 2010, 2011 (a tie of Reserva Privada and Reserva Privada Colorado) and 2012, a "three-peat".563
- A High Times Top 10 Strain of the Year in 2011.3
- 3rd Seed-Company Indica in 2014.7
- 1st Indica Flower at the 2015 SoCal Cup (Greenwolf LA/Kush Company).8
2. Identity
- Names/aliases: Kosher Kush, "Jew Gold", "the JG", Kosher OG (informal), Kosher Kush Fem; related: Kosher Dawg, Holy Grail Kush (Kosher Kush × OG #18), Challah Bread.19
- Type as reported: indica-dominant.4
- Era: the clone was in LA in the 2000s; Leafly says DNA bred Kosher Kush in 2006. Its Amsterdam Cup debut was 2010; feminized seeds came "early 2011".101
- Breeder: DNA Genetics / Reserva Privada (Don and Aaron); clone from an unnamed LA crew.1
- Propagation: both.
- Region: Los Angeles.
3. Genetics & lineage claims
3a. An LA OG-type clone ("Jew Gold") of unknown pedigree, acquired by DNA
Confidence: verified (as the breeder's statement of provenance).1
3b. OG Kush × "Super Secret Sativa"
Confidence: reported (DNA via HT 2011; the second parent is undisclosed).2
3c. Kosher Kush × OG Kush
Confidence: reported (HT 2013 seed listing; may describe a backcrossed seed line).3
3d. OG Kush primary parent, rest unknown (Kosher Kush × Kosher Kush seed)
Confidence: verified (DNA site 2026, as the breeder's current statement).4
3b–3d are the breeder's own shifting descriptions, recorded separately. Leafly (Devine) describes Kosher Kush as the first OG line on the European seed market.10
