1. Summary

Neville's (Nevil's) Haze is a near-pure Haze attributed to Nevil Schoenmakers and released by Green House Seed Co. in the 1990s. Green House calls it "almost pure Haze". Its founder Arjan says Neville's Haze and Super Silver Haze were the only strains he got from Nevil, with whom he worked from 1994 to 2001.12 The commonly repeated pedigree is (NL #5 × Haze A male) × Haze C male, built on Haze males Nevil selected from O Haze seed at The Seed Bank in 1985–1988. Phylos (snippet) calls the mother "supposedly" A5 Haze and the father "supposedly" Haze C.345 No Nevil-authored statement of this pedigree was found. How Nevil got his Haze, from Sam or directly from the "Haze Brothers", is disputed.56

Confidence: reported. Seedfinder's tree is ((Haze × Haze) × NL #5) × (Haze × Haze).1 Weedmaps describes Haze A crossed with NL #5, then crossed with Haze C.3 Phylos labels both parents "supposedly".4

Confidence: well-supported.278

3c. How Nevil obtained Haze

Confidence: disputed. One version: Sam's stock (c.1984–85, or Haze males in 1987), then selection over 1985–88 into Haze A, B and C males.563 The other: Rosenthal's Big Book of Buds Vol. 1, as relayed by Leafly, says the Haze Brothers took it to Nevil directly. I did not check the book.5

4. Timeline

  • 1985–1988 — Nevil grows out and selects O Haze at The Seed Bank (Haze A/C males).5
  • 1987 — Sam gives Nevil Haze males (McCormick).6

5. Notable cuts / phenotypes / remakes

  • Three phenotypes are reported: one compact indica-like and two stretchy sativas.1
  • An ACE Seeds clone (from "Yo Sammy") is the mother of Super Malawi Haze (snippet).9
  • A Nevil's Haze × Trainwreck hybrid ("Nevil's Wreck") is a parent of Ghost Train Haze; see ghost-train-haze.

The breeder describes it as tall, strong, stimulating and introspective: 12–14 weeks indoors (about 91 days), November outdoors, up to 700 g/m².1 Weedmaps calls it a happy, giggly daytime high.3

Effectively a single producer's cut in WA, and too small to generalize.

The data are insufficient: Seedfinder has 0 comments, Leafly returned 403 and Reddit was not sampled. Themes come from breeder and editorial text only: a stimulating high (occasional, positive); very long flowering and stretch (common, negative); prized breeding stock (occasional, positive).139 Overall score: withheld (no adequate sample).
