"Platinum OG" is a California OG-family name of the late 2000s. The sources on it are thin, and its parentage is unknown or disputed:

  • Leafly gives "Master Kush Γ— OG Kush Γ— an unknown third parent".1
  • Cannigma says "most sources" credit Apothecary Genetics but lists OG Kush, Master Kush, Afghani and Mendo Purps "among others".2
  • Retail copy calls "Platinum Kush, also known as Platinum OG" an early-1990s Master Kush Γ— Afghani.3
  • In the 2010 THCFarmer catalogue of renamed OG cuts, "platinum" appears alongside SFV, HA, Fire and Ghost. That suggests "Platinum" may simply be an OG Kush cut name.4
  • Washington lab data include a distinct "Platinum SFV OG".5

What is documented is its use as a parent. Loud Seeds' Loud Scout = Girl Scout Cookies Γ— Platinum OG Kush won 1st Seed-Company Hybrid at the 2012 Amsterdam Cup; this is verified in High Times.67 Platinum Girl Scout Cookies = Platinum OG Γ— GSC.8 Recent seed lines named "Platinum…", such as In House Genetics' "Platinum" (UW Hashplant Γ— Perma Frost), are unrelated and should not be confused with it.9
