1. Summary

Triangle Kush is a Florida OG-type clone, said to date from the early 1990s. It was brought online and popularised in the mid-2000s by the Floridians Cornbread Ricky and Krome, who later founded Swamp Boys Seeds. High Times (2017) credits Swamp Boys with "sharing two legendary strains: Triangle Kush and The White".1 Archive's ThaDocta noted in 2015 that TK "didn't show up online until 2006" through Big Ricky and Krome.2

Its origin is disputed:

  • Marty Calabrese (Origins TK) says TK and OG Kush are sibling seeds from an accidental 1991 South Florida garage cross. The mother was an "Emerald Triangle" female; the father was a Hindu Kush seed bought from Nevil in 1989. This is relayed from Instagram on Seedfinder, in dispensary copy and in a 2023 licensing press release.345
  • Westword's name explanation is the triangle of Florida growing cities (Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville), with "most growers" seeing an OG Kush phenotype.6
  • Leafly calls it the cut "closest to the original Florida mother" of OG Kush.7
  • ThaDocta: "There is not any evidence that TK has anything to do with chem lines, or whether it, or the original 'OG' cut came first."2

Calabrese's account is the only originator statement, so it is reported and disputed by the other OG Kush origin claims. TK is a major breeding parent. Wedding Cake (TK Γ— Animal Mints), Rare Dankness RD#1 and Drama, Top Dawg/Money Mike I-95 and DNA's TK Z all use it.891011

Confidence: reported (the originator's own claim, secondhand; conflicts with og-kush Β§3a/3c/3d).345 The account says pre-sexed Hindu Kush pollen "near the AC intake" seeded a 12-light garage. The TK seed was later found by an Orlando friend's circle.3

4. Naming

Westword says the name probably refers to the triangle formed by Tampa, Miami and Jacksonville.6 The Calabrese account derives it from the "Emerald Triangle" mother.3 Both are reported.
