1. Summary

Larry OG is an Orange County, California OG Kush clone ("the famed Larry OG cut made the rounds in Southern Cali for years").1 The Cali Connection turned it into a seed strain: Larry Kush clone Γ— SFV OG Kush F3/IBL male. That line won repeatedly from 2012 to 2015, including 1st Hybrid at the 2012 San Francisco Medical Cup.123 It is also the male parent of Purple Punch (GDP Γ— Larry OG).4 The seed recipe is a verified breeder statement.

Who the clone was is disputed:

  • A 2010 THCFarmer catalogue places it with the same Orange County crew as HA (Hells Angel) OG.5
  • The "Putz" folklore text says Mike "Mad Dog"'s cut went to Orange County and became "Larry".5
  • High Times (2015) relays that the original SoCal (Orange County) OG behind Larry was "bred from the Chem D and a hybrid of Lemon Thai Γ— Hindu Kush Γ— Pakistani". This repeats the folkloric Chemdawg Γ— Lemon Thai Γ— Paki story, with an anachronistic Chem D (popped 2001).6
  • Retail and secondary databases call Larry OG "OG Kush Γ— SFV OG", which describes the seed line rather than the clone.78
  • Phylos (2018) reported that Wonderland Nursery's "Larry" is genetically identical to the Josh D OG cut.9

Confidence: reported (secondary databases). This describes the Cali Connection seed line (Larry clone Γ— SFV OG), not the clone.78

4. Seed version (breeder statements)

  • Larry OG Kush (Cali Connection) = Larry Kush clone Γ— SFV OG Kush F3 male (HT Jan 2011). HT Sep 2015 says "a select Larry OG crossed with the SFV OG IBL". 9–10 weeks. Thin, stretched branches may need staking, and spider mites love it.12
  • HT (2013) on River City Phoenix's Larry OG: "a cross of two sister phenos, making it a virtual backcross".14
  • Descendants: Purple Punch = GDP female Γ— Larry OG male from Cali Connection seeds (Supernova Gardens, Hawaii, 2012);4 Archive Larry Faced (Larry OG Γ— Face Off OG BX1);15 Larry Cake, Larry Lovestein (lab names).16
