Princess

1. Summary

Princess is the female clone behind the whole Brothers Grimm family. She was selected, not bred: MrSoul grew her from one of about ten seeds found in a Sensi-branded 2 g bag of Jack Herer bought at Coffeeshop Sensi Smile, Amsterdam.¹² He dates the find to 1997 in his 2000 text and his 2025 interview, and to 1996 in his 2017 text and on the 2023 history page.¹³²⁴ He describes her as:

• short and compact;
• fast (about 50 days);
• smelling of "tropical fruit and rotten meat", or pineapple and "evil";
• "devastatingly psychoactive", to the point of being too speedy and paranoia-inducing for most smokers.¹²

Her mother is assumed to be Jack Herer because of the coffeeshop label. Her father is unknown. Co-breeder Sly did not believe she had any Jack Herer in her,⁵ and some growers think she came from a selfed or herm Jack seed.⁶⁷ She was never sold as seed. She is the seed mother of Cinderella 88 and 99, Ice Princess, Queen of Soul, Toxic Princess and Uptown Funk.^1891011 MrSoul says trusted friends kept the clone through the 2002–2015 hiatus and that she mothered the 2016 C99 reissue.¹²¹³ No genetic test confirms that this is the same plant. No retail "Princess" lab result can be tied to her.

2. Identity

• Names: Princess; "the original 'Holy Grail' Princess female"; "Princess (mother of Cinderella)".¹³¹⁴ Not to be confused with Princess 88 (= Cinderella 88, a P.88 seedling clone), Ice Princess, Princess Haze, or retail flower sold simply as "Princess".
• Sisters: Genius (mother of the Apollo lines) and Café Girl (Rosetta Stone line). Three males from the same seeds were not preserved, per the 2017 account.²¹⁵
• Type: described as sativa-leaning ("psychedelic", "trippy"), with compact structure.²
• Propagation: clone-only. "I don't think Soul ever gifted a princess cut to anyone."¹⁶

3. Genetics & lineage claims

3a. Sensi Smile Jack Herer bagseed, unknown father (MrSoul)

Confidence: verified that this is the breeder's account. Disputed by 3b and 3c. 2000: "a seed found in a Jack Herer bud I bought in Amsterdam near the Sensi Seed Bank at 'Coffeeshop Sensi Smile'… so I assume she's an F2 JH".¹ 2017: "We can assume Princess' mother was a Jack Herer not only because Sensi Smile printed it on the package, but also because I've smoked verified Jack Herer since then. So Princess' father is a totally unidentified mystery plant."²

3b. Not a Jack Herer hybrid (Sly)

Confidence: reported Sly argued that an unknown father could not bring a Jack Herer flowering time down to about 49 days, and noted that sibling females from the same batch were just as fast.⁵

3c. A Jack Herer herm/S1 seed

Confidence: reported (grower inference) Growers on Overgrow (2020) read the bagseed story as an accidental self-pollination. In their view this makes the Cindy family "a stabilized Jack Herer variety", and they question the "brother of Princess" detail in early accounts.⁶⁷

3d. Year of the find

Confidence: disputed (the breeder's own accounts disagree: 1996 vs 1997).¹³²⁴

3e. Princess Haze: which cross?

Confidence: disputed (both claims secondary) A reseller (2018) gives "Cinderella 99 x Cinderella 99/Super Silver Haze male".¹⁷ A third-party write-up gives "Princess x Super Silver Haze".¹⁸ BG's own pages read today state no cross.¹¹

4. Timeline

• 1996 or 1997: seeds found and Princess selected, along with Genius and Café Girl.²¹
• c. 1997–1999: the cubing program P.50 → P.75 → P.88 (Cinderella 88) → P.94 → Cinderella 99.¹⁵¹ MrSoul ships rooted Princess 88 clones to Baudelaire in 1998.¹⁹ A grower receives a Princess bud in a film canister before C99 goes on sale at Heaven's Stairway.²⁰
• 2001: Ice Princess (Princess × Green House White Widow male) is in the Seeds Direct catalog.⁸²¹ A Cannabis World thread is titled "Princess – Mother of C99" (only the title survives).²²
• 2002–2015: per MrSoul, trusted friends keep clones of his "two most important females".¹²
• 2016: C99 reissue: a male from original-batch C99 seed pollinates "the original 'Holy Grail' Princess female".¹³

7. Cannabinoid & terpene profile

Caveat: Princess has never been sold as seed and no clone distribution is documented, so no lab result can be attributed to her. Strain names are not reliable chemotype identifiers.

• The CT Cannabis Product Registry lists 8 products named exactly "Princess" from one producer (2024–2025), averaging 20.5% THC and 0.0% CBD.²⁶ These are almost certainly unrelated and are recorded only so they are not merged with this clone.
• "Princess Haze" (MD/WA, n=54, one producer, 15.3% THC average) is a separate entry.²⁶

There are too few first-hand smokers of the actual clone to score; about 15 mentions were read.
