1. Summary

"Skywalker OG" is a Los Angeles-market OG clone of the 2000s, so its name ties together two plants. The first is Skywalker, a Dutch Passion seed strain: the breeder's own catalog gives Mazar × Blueberry, and it is now discontinued.1 The second is OG Kush. The usual lineage, Skywalker × OG Kush, is supported by DNA Genetics' seed version: "Skywalker Kush" was made by crossing "the hard-to-get original Skywalker clone with a pedigreed OG Kush male", 60–65 days.2 It is also supported by Leafly as summarised in the OG Kush dossier: "(Blueberry × Mazar) × OG Kush".3

Competing accounts make "Skywalker OG" an OG Kush phenotype selected for sativa traits (Medical Jane via Cannigma), with the name coming from a lead grower nicknamed "Luke" (Wayofleaf via Cannigma).4 Parentage is therefore disputed: "Skywalker × OG Kush" is reported, and the DNA Skywalker Kush seed line is verified as a separate breeder product.

A Skywalker OG phenotype called "the 600" ("Skywalker 600"), developed near Hollywood, won 1st Medical Indica at the 2013 Denver Cup.56

2. Identity

3a. Skywalker (Mazar × Blueberry, Dutch Passion) × OG Kush

Confidence: reported. Leafly (as summarised in og-kush) and Cannigma via Lift & Co give this.34 The Dutch Passion parent is verified by the breeder: Skywalker = Mazar × Blueberry, now discontinued. Cannigma says Mazar was the male and Blueberry the female.14

3b. A sativa-leaning OG Kush phenotype, no Skywalker parent

Confidence: reported (Medical Jane via Cannigma).4

3c. Name from a grower nicknamed "Luke"

Confidence: reported (Wayofleaf via Cannigma; Leafly's genealogy piece ties it to a friend "Luke").43

3d. DNA Genetics Skywalker Kush = original Skywalker clone × pedigreed OG Kush male

Confidence: verified (breeder statement as printed in High Times 2012 and in DNA's current catalog, "Skywalker × OG Kush").29 DNA's catalog also lists Skywalker Kush Auto = Skywalker OG × OG Kush Auto.9

  • 2013 — HT reader grows Skywalker OG at "23% THC". HT notes "the 600" as a Skywalker OG pheno developed near Hollywood.105
  • 2015 — Skywalker OG Kush (Dab Vader/Vader Extracts) 3rd Hybrid Concentrate at the SoCal Cup.11

5. Historical descriptions

Dense nugs with swollen resin glands; "some of the tastiest, most potent hash" (HT 2012, DNA Skywalker Kush).2 Cannigma: 9 weeks; needs pruning and topping; grows tall.4 The Dutch Passion Skywalker is reported to be sensitive to pyrethrum burns (HT 2010 grow column).12
