Terpene explorer
What labs actually measure in flower. Lab data: Smith et al. 2022 (CC0) and 2014–2026 state testing records. Most effect claims about terpenes are untested in people at the doses in smoked flower. We grade each one.
Reference
Nerolidol
Dominant terpene in 4 strains · typical level when dominant 0.36% of flower weight
Aroma: faint woody-floral, slightly rose-apple (JECFA), fir, linoleum, pine (FEMA flavor profile)
Also found in: ginger, oregano, German chamomile, lavender, guava
Reported effects and how strong the evidence is
- preclinicalReview of multiple pharmacological/biological activities (antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, etc.), essentially all preclinical; FDA permits use as a flavouring (in vitro)
Not supported: Nerolidol is sedative in cannabis users — no human evidence found; Sub-150 °C nerolidol boiling/'vaporization' figures in cannabis charts — measured values in that range are at ~1 mmHg (≈113–114 °C)
